TMUGG 2025 Fall Orientation

Graphics/Digital Poster Package

Graphic Executive

This project was working under the student club TMUGG (Gamers Guild) as one of their graphic executives. For this specific graphic request, I was required to make 3 different graphics for different platforms (Instagram post, Instagram story, Discord) that all fell under the same theme.

One of the main challenges was designing essentially the same graphic, but with slight differences to offer variety. To overcome this, I traced my initial steps for each graphic and looked for inspiration online.

Process

As all my graphics for TMUGG goes, it starts off with a graphic request from our VP of Marketing. They usually add graphic inspirations and other notes for reference, which helps me understand their vision. After going through all the information needed, I view Pinterest or other student group graphics for further inspiration and to get an idea of how I want the layout.

I start my graphics by putting all the information I need onto Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. Here, I move things around to help me visualize the layout. If I get stuck at this part of the process, I usually move on to creating the title, which helps set the vibe of the graphic and further motivates/inspires me.

Results

When completing the graphic, I show it to the marketing and graphics team, who offer notes and other suggestions where applicable. After revisions for the final version, the VP usually sends them out to the rest of the team in which they share their own reaction and opinions. The graphic is then posted to TMUGG's official Instagram for the public to interact with.

Practicum Short Film
BTS Photoshoot & Social Media

Social Media Manager

For this student practicum project, I worked with them as their social media manager (@mdnight.studio on Instagram). I was responsible for managing the social media account for the production. This included designing and curating posts under specific deadlines and guidelines. Beyond graphics posted, I also contributed to some behind-the-scenes photography.

One of the main challenges was balancing creative freedom with strict guidelines. I needed to ensure that all social media content aligned with the director’s vision and the film’s overall theme, while also maintaining engaging and visually appealing posts. Additionally, determining optimal posting times and coordinating content with the production schedule required careful planning.

To address these challenges, I developed a structured content approach that prioritized consistency in tone and visual style. I coordinated closely with the director to ensure alignment with the film’s creative direction, while also incorporating my own design style in a way that enhanced rather than conflicted with the project. Strategic scheduling and thoughtful curation helped maintain audience engagement and a cohesive online presence.

Process

The development process focused on content planning, creation, and alignment with the production’s theme:
- Brainstorming and designing post concepts based on the film’s tone
- Capturing behind-the-scenes moments during production
- Editing and formatting content for Instagram
- Scheduling posts based on timing and relevance
- Collaborating with the director to refine and approve content

TMU Esports

TMU League of Legends Collegiate Team

Director

The final production of this project was the successful management and operation of a collegiate League of Legends competitive team under TMU Esports. This included organizing the team’s participation in collegiate leagues and tournaments, coordinating practice schedules, managing player communication, and supporting the team through the competitive season. The project resulted in a structured competitive environment that allowed players to train consistently, represent the university, and compete at a higher level in organized collegiate esports.

Process

The development process involved several stages of team organization and management:
- Recruiting and coordinating players for the competitive roster
- Establishing practice schedules and communication systems
- Monitoring team progress through scrims and competitive matches
- Adjusting team strategies and schedules based on performance and availability

Results

The results of this project included the successful operation of a competitive collegiate esports team and improved team coordination throughout the season.
Outcomes included:
- A structured competitive environment for players
- Consistent team practices and match participation
- Stronger collaboration and communication between players
- Representation of the university in collegiate esports competitions

Collegiate esports teams often face challenges such as inconsistent player availability, communication issues, and balancing academic schedules with competitive commitments. Without clear organization and leadership, it can be difficult for a team to maintain consistent practice habits and strong performance throughout a competitive season.

To address these issues, I developed a structured team management approach that included clear communication channels, organized practice schedules, and defined player expectations. I also worked closely with players to support team coordination, resolve conflicts, and ensure that the team maintained consistent preparation for competitions.
